Soldering plumbing

Soldering is a special technique to join two pieces of metal by heating them with a metal called solder. This process creates a strong and leak-proof connection essential for ensuring the functionality and leak-free operation of your plumbing system. If you are going to fix or install kitchen sink plumbing, it is very useful to know how to solder.

If you are inexperienced, it can be a bit of a process, but here is what you need to solder a Zhongsu plumbing joint: These consist of a soldering iron, solder wire, flux, as well as safety equipment such as handwear covers as well as safety glasses. Working with heat is highly dangerous, so safety gear is extremely crucial. First, clean the ends of the pipes you are going to solder together. You may want to do this using sandpaper or a wire brush. Cleaning the pipes removes any dirt, rust, or old solder that may be stuck to them. Once the pipes are cleaned, the next step is applying flux to the faces of the pipes. Solder is then melted applying heat to create a joint (wherein, flux is a special substance that helps the solder stick even better to the metal). After applying the flux you are supposed to heat the joint with a soldering iron. Then apply solder to the warm part. As the solder contacts the hot joint it melts and flows into the small space between the two pieces of metal. Once it cools, this forms a solid bond that holds everything tight.

Tips and tricks for successful soldering in plumbing projects

Before starting your actual plumbing project of Zhongsu plastic plumbing fittings, I would highly recommend practicing on scrap pieces of metal.

Another mistake is the not cleaning the pipes properly before you solder. When the pipes are not clean, the solder would not stick properly that might create leaks after some time.
